The Drain Maintenance Department is responsible for conducting inspections, maintenance, and emergency repairs to the public storm water drainage system. These public drainage systems are located within the city’s right-of-way or a recorded public drainage easement. The City currently has approximately 30 miles of major and minor concrete channel lined ditches, pipes in over 3000 miles of city streets, and other related structures such as 60,000 inlets/catch basins. Drain Maintenance personnel also provide emergency responses to flooding of public R.O.W.’s in order to eliminate unsafe conditions on City streets. It is also a goal of the Drain Maintenance Department to inspect and clean public drainage systems in order to minimize the potential impact of flooding of property.
