* All numbers are approximate, utilizing figures from 1998.** All Shelby County municipalities provide for solid waste collection at all single and multifamily homes, either by providing services directly or by contract with private waste companies. Shelby County Government provides solid waste services in unincorporated areas via waste collection agreements with several waste haulers (see attached). The number of homes receiving solid waste services in unincorporated Shelby County does not reflect those homes which receive services from several small solid waste companies which were difficult to identify and track; therefore, the number of homes actually receiving services is greater than those reported.
*** The above number of homes are based on the most current population figures available.
